JUNIOR FUSION SCHOOL
The classes are for children aged 5 to 7 years old.
These classes will enable the younger students to explore the opportunities offered by performing arts by integrating imaginative play and arts and crafts.
Drama and spoken word
They will be introduced to drama and performance and they will learn basic drama skills and games. They will learn the very basics of presentation with voice, expression and movement. They will begin to learn theatre and performance vocabulary.
They will develop their grasp of the spoken word, learning short poems, speeches or nursery rhymes, depending on their age and ability, and using material from authors suitable for their age group.
They will use their imagination to portray different characters, and retell familiar stories or invent their own.
Singing and music
They will learn the basics of singing, learning simple rhythms and phrases. In each term they will learn short songs in different styles to sing in a group, leading up to solo phrases or lines within the group pieces.
Songs and music may be season-specific in order to enhance the natural progression of the year.
Dance and creative movement
This is designed to provide a strong foundation in dance and movement. They will develop their creative talents but with some formal exercises to encourage good technique and posture. They will be introduced to the fundamental positions and short movement phrases, but with a focus on coordination, motor skills, balance, spatial awareness and rhythm.
They may work with props like scarves, bean bags, ribbons, hula hoops, skipping ropes.
Arts and Crafts
An opportunity to have a different adventure at every session - using costumes, props, music and crafts to create different worlds - perhaps pirates, castles, the jungle, underwater world, the circus or outerspace. It is used to develop the creative imagination of young children which they can use in later scenarios and performances.
