Co-Curriculum Activities

Key Stage 2, year 5 & 6 ( 8 - 10 yrs)
Key Stage 3, year 7, 8 & 9 (11 - 13 yrs)
Mondays and Wednesdays 2:30 - 3:30pm

The workshops are a great way for young people to learn the fundamentals of acting techniques; breathing, vocal projection and articulation, improvisational techniques, stage-presence and stage manners. This goes hand-in-hand with learning ensemble performance work, team-work, confidence, imagination and expression.

This series of acting workshops will culminate in a performance based on the participants' imagination that emerges from a combination of work-shopped drama games, improvisational and scripted work.

Fusion will help nurture your creativity and give you the opportunity to perform in front of an audience!

Participants can expect hard work along with a lot of fun, in order to be performance ready.

Examples of drama games:

In a circle, learning teamwork and how to act and react:

• pass the clap
• zip zap boing
• pass an improvised sound and action

Environment excercises:

(using actor's voice and body to create atmosphere and environment)

• group improvisation creating various environments and accompanying emotions eg. Rainforest, city in traffic jam, in a busy kitchen, in space, in the arctic etc.
• Mr. Wolf (creating an atmosphere and learning focus)

Improvisation exercises:

(Learning the basic rules of improvisations)

• Be on stage and improve a character without speaking (audience has to guess) eg. Fireman, chef, tailor etc. Showing Who, Where, What and Why one is, without having to speak.
• Improv as above in pairs and create a dramatic situation. Eg. Two police officers are directing traffic and one tries to convince his partner that she has seen a UFO. The other officer is disbelieving.
